Physical Education at Stockport School
Students will realise sporting potential and develop fitness and confidence through enjoyment and participation.
Key Stage 3 PE curriculum
Students will undertake the following units during KS3;
Unit 1 Developing & understanding active lifestyles through fitness activities
Unit 2 Developing responsibility and problem solving through team games
Unit 3 Developing confidence through net activities
Unit 4 Developing resilience and competition through interhouse
Unit 5 Developing self-motivation through athletics
Unit 6 Developing creativity through dance & gymnastics
There is an extensive range of enrichment physical activities which students are encouraged to get involved in. We also have a number of teams which students can represent the school in, alongside a number of house sporting competitions which are held regularly throughout the year.
Key Stage 4
All Key Stage 4 pupils can participate in core lessons, enrichment activities and represent school in a variety of different sports.
For those who wish to study sport further we offer GCSE PE, BTEC Sport & BTEC Dance
BTEC Sport
Component 1 – Preparing participants to take part in sport and physical activity
Component 2 – Taking part and improving other participants’ sporting performance
Component 3 – Developing Fitness to Improve other participants’ performance in sport and physical activity.

Practical performance in three different physical activities in the role of player/performer (one in a team activity, one in an individual activity and a third in either a team or in an individual activity). Analysis and evaluation of performance to bring about improvement in one activity - coursework
Enrichment opportunities
We have many opportunities for students to be involved in a variety of enrichment activities. These do change throughout the year too. Students are rewarded for attendance to enrichment
Representing school
We are fortunate to be able to field numerous teams and individuals to represent school. We take part in multiple borough and regional events
Homework
KS3 homework is set regularly during each half term and is focused on the activities students are engaged in lessons
KS4 homework is set weekly and includes compulsory and extra credit tasks based on the exam course being studied
