Our mission is to expose all pupils to a wide range of thought provoking texts, that will foster their creativity, competence, cultural understanding and critical reading, to ensure they leave Stockport School confident with these skills and ready for the ‘functional’ needs and enjoyment of English in the future.

You can help your child by:

Checking in that they have completed their homework. Parents and carers can access Firefly and Bedrock. Email the class teacher, if you do not have a log in.

Encouraging students to read: both fiction and non-fiction



Homework and Independent Study

English homework aims to help students to:

  • be more independent
  • develop their knowledge and skills
  • consolidate or prepare for classroom learning
  • explore related topics, issues and interests in greater depth
